As of day six, ghekos are no longer safe.  They are being caught and kept as pets.  Fortunately for them they are great at climbing out of boxes, unlike the snails of last week which I think are still in a box somewhere in the house.

Day six of lock down was not our best.  It just never really took off in any direction.  The pre-school activity programme hit an all time low when by 9am I just gave the phone over to the children.  When I got it back again, I saw that they had sent about 50 animated gifs to Fred’s mom.  I actually had some work to attend to and so did everybody except Fred and Nana.  So Fred and Nana took the children downstairs for a few hours.  I don’t know what happened down there but when they came back upstairs at around lunchtime the two adults looked wrecked.

After lunch, Fred said he just really needed to do something manly and so he decided to chop some wood with his axe.  I don’t know if it was all that he hoped it would be, especially as he had Raphi chatting incessantly in his ear the whole time.  I didn’t jump to his rescue however as I had bigger fish to fry.  Jethro had taken a really short morning nap and was completely off schedule.

It had just gone 3pm when the dads were already getting the fire ready for supper.  I put the Wonky Donkey on for the children again.  They love the part when the donkey farts, if you or your children are into that kind of thing you should check it out – here’s the link:  https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=SDeQT9zCvi4

Anyway, as soon as you put on one song for them, it’s a slippery slope.  They ended up watching songs on Youtube all afternoon while the adults waited around for a reasonable time to make and eat supper.  It was a beautiful evening and once again supper was excellent.  We had ribs with salad and Woollies potato bake.

We enjoyed eating together on the patio against the backdrop of the sun setting over the ocean, so the day wasn’t all bad.  Raphi said, “I don’t ever want to leave this place” – which is of course a sweet thing to say, but considering the current situation, also quite ominous.
