Day seven was a good day for the pre-school activity programme. As Helen had work to do, the pressure was on Nana and I to come up with several hours of entertainment to keep the children busy. The first thing we did was tackle the mess in the living room. Tidying up the living room at this point makes me think of that philosophical question, “If a tree falls in a forest, and no one is around to hear it, does it make a sound?”.
The morning went fairly well. We danced like penguins, followed a lesson plan that I had found online and then did some more paper crafts. It’s a good thing we stocked up on so much paper before lock down.
Jethro has taken to 30 minute naps which is devastating. He is very sweet but can get a bit cranky if he doesn’t nap enough. This made the afternoon a little tiresome. He fell asleep on Fred’s lap at some point and I lay on the bed for what felt like only five minutes. Caleb then brought him back to me. In what I can call the most dramatic moment of the day, Jethro plunged head-first off the bed and I managed to catch him with my feet. This caused my calf muscle to go into spasm (probably as a result of running up and down the steps for exercise) and I couldn’t move. I had him in a pretty good grip but I was unable to move. Fred came to the rescue.
We then went upstairs. We found a wagtail flying around the house and poohing on the kitchen counters. Daba decided to run on the trampoline for 15 minutes which provided 15 minutes of entertainment for the rest of us. He says he won’t do it again, it wasn’t worth it.
The dads made a fire, cracked open some beers and we dined on lamb chops.
