The baby woke me at 6am but it was Fred’s turn to take him.  I was happy to go back to sleep.  Fred brought him back to me at 8am and he smelt like beer.  The baby smelt like beer, not Fred.  I started my day with the resolve to eat a healthy breakfast, snack less and do some exercise.

When I got upstairs, Christopher was making American pancakes with crispy bacon and syrup.  I decided that Monday is a better day to start with the healthy stuff.  Breakfast on the patio with coffee was a great start to the day.  After three days of the baby not napping more than 30 minutes at a time, it was also wonderful when he went down for a good nap.

Fred meanwhile was playing Monopoly with the older two again.  He had stepped in to help Raphi when he discovered that she was subjected to the ills of a capitalist system that wasn’t working in her favour.  Caleb was getting richer while she struggled along unable to leverage any opportunities.  Anyway, she soon tired of it all and came upstairs.

Raphi and Hope set up a chocolate shop.  Helen had given them a small amount of chocolate which they had broken into small pieces.  These little morsels were for sale.  They were a funny pair, between the two of them they had an entire outfit on.  Raphi wore only a t-shirt only and Hope wore only leggings.  I returned downstairs and told Fred that he better go and visit the chocolate shop.  On overhearing this, Caleb jumped up and said he was going upstairs to help them with their price points to make sure they were making a profit.  I talked him out of it.

A new activity that I have discovered is Youtube drawing tutorials with the kids.  Obviously the whole thing turns into a request taking exercise and I draw endless dinosaurs and unicorns.  That kept us busy for a while.  I actually wish I could spend more time on it but obviously I have to look after the baby most of the day.

As it was Sunday, we had an online church service to tune in to.  The internet was intermittent throughout the morning so it was only after lunch that we managed to get it going.  This actually worked out well for me because the baby took a nap at the same time.

After church, Daba said that we should get our story time project back on track.  We had slacked off for three days.  He had written his story and I still needed to.  I gave the baby to Fred and got writing.  As Fred had suspected I would, I also checked out Facebook and the news and the weather and things like that and had some tea.

After a bit of cricket in the garden it was time for the stories.  It’s always a challenge because of the lack of pictures. Caleb sits and listens quite intently, Raphi tends to bounce around the room and ask for snacks.

Day ten was a beautiful sunny day, the dads said they didn’t feel like making supper so Helen and I put some crumbed fish and pre-cut chips in the oven.
