I woke up early with the baby. Thankfully the older two woke up early too as they provide a bit of entertainment. In a moment of inspired boldness, I decided to bath all three of them on my own. It was not only bold but also necessary as they were looking pretty unkempt, especially the older two. For a moment the whole thing was cute and I grabbed the phone to snap a photo. It quickly went down hill from there.
I was excited about having a Woolies hot cross bun with my coffee as it was Good Friday. We never did get around to baking our own hot cross buns. Finally when the kids were all dressed and Fred had woken up to help me, I got dressed too and went upstairs. Helen suggested a run before the buns. It was a lovely still and cool morning, perfect for a run. We ran 3km round and round the garden and I have new respect for Daba who has run up to 8kms round and round the garden.
The Woolies buns were very nice but the whole experience was not all that I had hoped it would be. At the very moment that I sat down with my coffee and bun, Jethro swiped at a glass on the coffee table and it smashed to the floor. Jethro had cut his finger, not a bad cut at all but he managed to wipe blood all over my t-shirt. I never really regained the moment with my coffee and bun.
In the afternoon, I let Jethro taste a strawberry. He became very angry when he couldn’t have anymore. In fact these days he becomes very angry whenever I open the fridge as he knows that it’s where food comes from. It’s a problem, sometimes I just like to open the fridge to see what’s in there. I would just give him whatever he wants but I can’t remember what is okay to give a seven month old so I am going to have to Google it.
After making the mistake with the fridge, I needed a big distraction so I decided to put him in the pram and push him up and down the drive way. The children and Helen all followed me out and it turned out to be an exciting change of scenery for us all.
It was Helen and Christopher’s wedding anniversary. We took all of the children downstairs so the two of them could enjoy some peace and quiet on the patio and eat lots of cheese. Obviously, our best plan was to allow the children some screen time. Fred forced them to watch some Forged in Fire but eventually he had to switch over to Curious George.
Helen then came downstairs to invite us all up for cake, ice cream and champagne.
