Life lessons

I believe that a life of meaning is an antidote to many of life’s weightiest burdens. In my writing, I share about my personal journey towards finding beauty in process.  I do my best to take a practical approach to how we can truly leave a life of worry and lead a life of purpose.

The key for me is anchored in my faith in Christ and my desire to live a life surrendered to His ways.  This leads me to explore a biblical approach to life’s challenges which I look at within the context of culture.  Whatever your world view, I am interested in honest, authentic conversation that leads me into knowing and understanding more.

Feel free to follow along and comment or DM me if something I write sparks a question or conversation for you.

Few things are needed

I've known for a while that doing isn't the thing.  It's not the thing that will transform my life.  Yet, I can't help doing.  I am like Martha in the kitchen.  Compassionately, Jesus said to her, “You are worried and upset about many things."  Who today is worried...

How to measure ourselves: part 1

I'm pushing on towards my dream life, the one where I have what I want. But do I want what I have?  This day, this one day that I will never have again.  This day with it's boring, with it's work and it's thinking about what else it could be if it wasn't what it is. ...

My food journey

I want to talk about food. I don't consider myself a foodie as my interest in food is not intended, but rather incidental.  I do however hold certain beliefs about food which have guided me to embrace a whole food diet and inspired me to be more intentional about...

Less parenting in a more world

I want to teach them less. I have noticed that my children have a consumerist craving for more.  I have a consumerist craving for more.  There is just a lot going on and we are wanting what we see.  We believe that more is more.  More will surely result in...

The body I have

I've been thinking of this one for a while now.  A blog post about my body journey.  It's just such a critical topic for women to be able to connect over, I think.  I think that I have spent way too much time in my life obsessing over it.  I have spent way to much...

About Us

We want to live a slow life. A life of connection and simplicity. A life that allows us the space to assess what we really want to be spending our time and resources on. And so here we are, the Slow Down Family, working on slowing down more. We are figuring out how to apply this to all areas of our life, and how to do it while raising small children and pursing our dreams. Follow our journey here as we share our experiences and tips on how to minimise and create space in our lives for the things that we really want to keep.
